Schuyler Sherwood
Schuyler
began his love for the fire service at 13 years old when he
became a Fire Explorer for the Easton Volunteer Fire Department.
After becoming a volunteer firefighter in the Town of Easton
at age 18, he knew this was this was the career he was meant
for. He has remained active in Easton for over twenty years.
In 1990, Schuyler completed his Fire Marshal certification and
was sworn in as a State Certified Fire Marshal. Since then,
he has served as Deputy Fire Marshal for the Town of Easton.
In this capacity he manages code enforcement and plan review.
In 1997, Schuyler achieved the rank of Assistant Chief in charge
of training in Easton.
Schuylers
career in Fairfield began in 1990 when he was hired as a career
firefighter. Shortly thereafter; he became a State of Connecticut
NFPA Hazardous Materials Technician and since has remained an
active member of the Fairfield County Regional Hazardous Materials
Response Team. In 1993, Schuyler became a State of Connecticut
Certified Fire Instructor. Schuyler achieved rank of Lieutenant
in 2003 and continues to serve in that position.
Currently
serving as program lead for the Fairfield Regional Fire Schools
hazardous materials program, Schuyler also focuses his fire
service instruction on Pump Operations, Self Contained Breathing
Apparatus and Flashover.
Schuyler
resides in Easton with his wife and two children.
